Elia in a Box: The Webcomic

OH MY GOD HELLO EVERYONE.

How do you all like the re-designed site?! I am so glad it’s finally here!

Last time I posted was last October and after I recovered from the almost-shut-down of my webcomic, in a depressive fit, a fire was lit under my ass and I knew I needed to pour my heart and soul back into this webcomic. I had already wasted a lot of last year just questioning where I was going with my art after falling into the con-fanart trap. I found I was making art for the sake of profit and losing my artistic soul along the way. When you look at my archive, 2017-2018 were slow post years. I blame myself for that.

The past couple of months I’ve been re-designing the site, re-scanning and editing all the comics, and just making sure my webcomic is up do date and functional across the board.

Putting all that work into it has really opened my eyes to everything that has been built over the past ten years. That’s right. TEN years. I started this webcomic in high school when I was just 17 and just wanted to make my friends giggle. Through college, growing up, and now, I have loved being able to make a great group of readers laugh as well. I cannot express in words the feeling of creating something that brings people joy.

This year I told myself I would not sink under depression that would keep me from creating this comic and my other original projects. I love doing this all too much to let one bad moment make me crumble and give up. It’s been hard and stressful, but typing this as I’m about to launch is (sappy feels ahead) making me tear up because it feels great knowing hard work pays off. Reading through all my comics while re-scanning and editing made me see how much I’ve grown in ten years and how the smallest thing can be drawn to bring a smile. It’s so simple.

Here’s to all of you who have been reading this comic for ten years to ten seconds. Every single person over the years who has taken time to come, read, and share the comic are the reason I keep on going. I hope to bring you many more silly moments of life and the imagination that bring a smile to your face.
